Characteristics of cotton / polyester core spun yarn

After special chemical treatment, it can become a high-quality bottom cloth. Therefore, the core spun yarn not only improves the hand feel and appearance of the blended yarn, but also has the characteristics of good strength and grinding. This kind of yarn is used in weaving or knitting. Compared with the pure cotton yarn fabric of the same count and specification, its advantages are very significant. This industry replaces the random blended yarn and fabric of man-made cotton and chemical fiber, and makes up for the shortage of random blended yarn and fabric.

A comparative test on the characteristics of cotton / polyester core spun yarn and pure cotton yarn was carried out in the Textile Research Institute of Carolina State, USA

1、 Test materials and methods

Cotton wrapped polyester core spun yarn is called "sandwich" yarn, which is tested by a special ring spinning machine (robcrt arrow). It is wrapped with ordinary cotton roving and polyester yarn. The length of cotton fiber is 11 / 16 ", and the length of polyester fiber is 424 high-strength fiber (length 11 / 2, fineness 1.2 Dan, single strength 6.8 g / Dan). It produces 28tex (21 British) and 35tex (17 British) 65 / 35 polyester cotton yarn, corresponding to 28 tex (17 British) 65 / 35 Tex and 35 tex pure cotton yarn have the same twist coefficient and other spinning process parameters.

The fabric is made of 3 / 1rh twill and five heddle satin. The fabric is 52 '' dobby loom. The warp yarn is 37 tex (16 British thread) pure cotton yarn. The weft yarn is 28 tex cotton wrapped polyester core yarn. The fabric specification is 52 × 52 plain and 52 × 58 twill. Thirty-five Tex cotton / polyester core spun yarn is used in circular looms with knitting and knitting of 20 ". Weaving conditions of woven and knitted fabrics are the same as that of pure cotton fabrics of the same specification. Weft test is conducted for primary color fabrics. The items are flexural wear resistance, strength and tear strength. The test conditions are ASTM standards and procedures. Since warp yarns are pure cotton yarns, it is unnecessary to test warp. Knitted fabrics The change of fabric size after cotton wrapped polyester with breaking strength, air permeability, pilling resistance and dimensional stability was carried out, and the DP contrast test before and after slightly 3% setting (Note: DP durable press durable setting) was carried out. The DP test conditions were that the rolling bath (ph5.2) contained 3% resin finishing agent (DMDHEU), 1% magnesium chloride hexahydrate (mgel2bh2) and 0.5% PVC softener. The fabric is dried at 60 ℃ for 7 minutes after passing through two rolling points and two soaking points, and then set at 160 ℃. The bursting strength, air permeability and pilling resistance of the fabric were compared before and after setting.

2、 Test results

1. Through the contrast test, the strength of cotton / polyester core spun yarn is 16.8g/tex, 14% higher than that of the same pure cotton yarn, the evenness CV% is 15.9, and the CV% of the same pure cotton yarn is 16.5.

2. The abrasion resistance, tear strength and tensile strength of core spun fabrics are better than those of pure cotton fabrics. The tensile strength of 28 tex core spun yarn is increased by 14%, the bending friction resistance of fabrics is improved by 300%, the tear strength is increased by 65%, and the tensile strength of satin fabrics is increased by 47%. For example, the tear strength of 28tex core spun plain fabric is 2.5kg, and that of plain cotton fabric of the same specification is 1.7kg; the tensile strength of core spun plain fabric is 170kg, and that of pure cotton fabric is 150kg. Obviously, the advantages of high strength of core spun yarn are related to various physical indexes of fabric.

3. The breaking strength, air permeability and pilling resistance of core spun knitted fabric are better than those of pure cotton knitted fabric before and after finishing with 3% DMDHEU resin. The breaking strength of core spun knitted fabric is about 40kg, the air permeability resistance is 34-35, the pilling resistance is 4-5, and the breaking strength of pure cotton knitted fabric of the same specification is about 35kg, the air permeability resistance is about 40, and the pilling resistance is about 3.

The spinning cost of the core spun yarn is basically the same as that of the common cotton spun yarn. The spinning mechanism of the core spun yarn is simple and economical, and it is easy to produce the core spun yarn on the general ring spinning frame after a little improvement. In the future, further efforts should be made to improve in order to be more perfect and applicable.
